Then the BFI Film Academy Bristol is for you...

No matter your background, qualifiactions or experience, this is your chance to get an insider’s perspective on what it’s like to work in film from writing scripts to getting films to the cinema screen.

Through the BFI Film Academy you will...

• Learn about all aspects of film - production, distribution and exhibition
• Meet professionals who will mentor you and share their tips for a successful career in film
• Attend practical sessions on filmmaking
• Get creative and develop your ideas
• Work with like-minded people to make a short film and see your work on the big screen
• Organise a film festival
• Create a portfolio and showreel
• Watch plenty of films for free at the cinema
• Learn what opportunities there are for your future
• Gain an accredited NCFE qualification
• Apply to the National BFI Residential Talent Campus
• Make new friends and contacts

Finlay who attended the BFI Film Academy says:

It's assured me that I want to be taking filmmaking and media into a career.”

The course runs from November 2017 to March 2018 (one evening a week during term time plus four weekends).

Fee: £25.00 (bursary + travel costs available)

At BFI Film Academy Bristol you have a choice between two different organisations, where you will work with professionals on industry standard kit to follow the whole production process from ideas to screening. Choose between:

Watershed - you will make documentaries for Rife Magazine and put on a film festival.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School - you will make a short drama that features animation.
